The Doctor Said I'm Improving

It’s five days after my fourth immunotherapy/chemo treatment. I didn’t feel well toward the end of treatment last Wednesday and so far this has been the hardest week physically. My oxygen has been low and heart rate high. The oxygen levels normalize with rest, however I’ve noticed my heart rate is consistently elevated with very little exertion.

I met with the doctor before my treatment and he said that I’m doing very well and my bloodwork was really good. He said he did not need to see me next time which is in three weeks and I will see him the following treatment six weeks from now. He also said he might decide to drop the chemotherapy and continue with immunotherapy for two extra rounds.

Unfortunately, I’m noticing short-term memory loss and it took me probably 10 minutes to remember what I was going to say for the last two sentences.

I’ve been walking three or four times a week but just 20 minutes or less. I get very winded and in Sedona there’s always some level of elevation. I’ll usually rest a little bit and then continue back to home or car.

About three weeks ago I decided to stop taking pain meds. My digestive system was compromised and about a week after stopping the pain meds, I started to feel better. I still have pain in my right arm but it’s tolerable.

My right hand is the biggest problem. I might have some nerve damage. I start PT on August 1st and hopefully can regain use of my hand and arm.
