Wednesday September 4, 2024 was my last chemo treatment. My oncologist told me he is adding six more treatments of just immunotherapy. He’s adding this, but also seems to think I’m doing very well and was excited when looking at my bloodwork results. He also ordered an echocardiogram to make sure my heart is doing okay and CT Scan to see how the tumors have responded since starting treatment.
Everything is pretty much the same. I have the same pattern of side effects that last for one week after treatment then they mostly vanish until next time. The only constant is tiredness. Oh, I noticed my taste buds are dulled. The good thing is healthy foods taste good. I made steel cut oatmeal with a mix of berries cooked into it and thought it was the best thing I’ve ever tasted.
I’ve been occasionally hiking the flatter trails in Sedona. Well, hike might be a bit of an exaggeration. It’s more like a stroll but it’s on a hiking trail I’m hoping the constant tiredness will lessen now that the chemo is over so I can hike more. I also want to create a more solid daily regimen to rebuild my body. I don’t have a clear plan, but hiking and eating a cleaner diet is top of the list.
